Preferred education and experience include graduation from a college or university with a bachelor's degree in fire science, public administration or a closely related field; seven years of experience in fire, emergency medical service work or emergency management, three years of which must have been at a supervisory level; Advanced Certification issued by a State Fire Commission (Masters Certification is preferred); Fire Inspector, and Investigator is preferred; TCFP Department Head Certification required within one year of employment; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
