Job Description:Fire Protection Engineer - Senior/Principal:
This position is for a Fire Protection Engineer in the
Facilities Organization located in West Mifflin,
Pennsylvania. The successful candidate will provide
technical oversight for fire protection system designs,
support inspection, testing, and maintenance of fire
protection systems, and serve as a technical consultant
in matters related to fire and life safety. Major

responsibilities include:Senior:
1. Perform engineering evaluations and analyses.
2. Document code compliance evaluations, including
submittals for approval of the Authority Having
Jurisdiction.
3. Support operations, testing, and maintenance of
fire protection systems.
4. Provide oversight for construction and renovation
of fire protection and life safety systems.
5. Provide support for emergency response activities
on-site, as required.

Principal:
1. Perform engineering evaluations and analyses.
2. Document code compliance evaluations, including
submittals for approval of the Authority Having
Jurisdiction.
3. Support operations, testing, and maintenance of
fire protection systems.
4. Provide oversight for construction and renovation
of fire protection and life safety systems.
5. Provide support for emergency response activities
on-site, as required.
6. Provide consultation to other program sites as a
technical expert in matters involving fire and life
safety, and related codes.
7. Provide technical leadership in Fire Protection,
including mentoring and training other personnel.
8. Integrate fire protection systems knowledge and
experience to resolve engineering problems and
contribute to strategic planning.
9. Provide technical consultation to senior management
in determining improvement needs and planning.
10. Provide technical oversight for special program
efforts, as assigned.

Job Requirements:Senior:
BS degree in Fire Protection Engineering from an
accredited college or university and a minimum of six
years of relevant practical experience in Fire
Protection Engineering, including operations and
maintenance OR BS degree in a related engineering
discipline from an accredited college or university is

acceptable together with one or more of the following:
1) Ten or more years of relevant practical experience in
Fire Protection Engineering, including experience in
operations and maintenance; 2) Possession of a
Professional Engineer certificate in Fire Protection; 3)
Professional Member status in the Society of Fire
Protection Engineers.

Principal:
BS degree in Fire Protection Engineering from an
accredited college or university and a minimum of nine
years of relevant practical experience in Fire
Protection Engineering, including operations and
maintenance OR BS degree in a related engineering
discipline from an accredited college or university is

acceptable together with one or more of the following:
1) 14 or more years of relevant practical experience in
Fire Protection Engineering, including experience in
operations and maintenance; 2) Possession of a
Professional Engineer certificate in Fire Protection; 3)
Professional Member status in the Society of Fire
Protection Engineers.
