The Written Exam scores posted already included Veteran Preference Points, which were added to Written Exam scores that were passing before the preference points. A pplicants on the List who scored less than 80.00% will remain on the List may be invited to future interviews.

Applicants who scored 80.00% or better on the Written Exam were sent email notification on May 15th with a link to register for the First Interviews, which took place during the first week of June 2012. The 1st Interviews have been scored, and results have been posted on-line for those applicants.
Applicants who passed the 1st Interview will receive registration instructions via email. Applicants who did not pass the 1st Interview will remain on the List and may be reconsidered for future interviews.

Considering the summer heat, the Second Interviews will be conducted prior to the Intern Orientation.

State of Arizona EMT or Paramedic certification will be required before invitation to the Intern Orientation and must be kept current thereafter. For State of Arizona EMT or Paramedic certification information, see the Arizona Department of Health Services website at http://www.azdhs.gov/bems/faq1.htm#EMT_Certification_-_10 .

The most qualified applicants from the Second Interviews will then be invited to the Intern Orientation, which is expected to take place on September 22nd, September 29th, October 6th, and October 13th. Participation is encouraged for all or some Orientation sessions but is not required.

To limit the number of applicants that are required to take the CPAT and to allow more time to prepare for and take the CPAT, only applicants invited to the Intern Orientation will be required to provide documentation that they have passed a CPAT from a CPAT licensee within 12 months of the Intern Orientation. We will provide those applicants with an authorization form to submit with the information needed for the City of Mesa to verify the CPAT result with the licensee. To continue in the testing process, the CPAT licensee must then verify the CPAT result.

Local CPAT licensees include but may not be limited to the Maricopa Community Colleges, http://www.mesacc.edu/dept/d12/fsc/district_cpat/index.html and National Testing Network at http://www.nationaltestingnetwork.com/cpat_test.cfm. For a list of CPAT licensees, go to http://www.iaff.org/HS/Well/statelist.htm.

The next Academy is expected to begin in February 2013. The exact dates and numbers for the next Academy have not been finalized at this time.
