This position requires previous experience performing firewall and proxy administration, preferably with prior hands-on experience working with Cisco PIX/ASA firewalls, Palo Also Network firewalls, and Blue Coat Proxy appliances.All applying firewall engineers should have prior experience doing installs and/or decommissions, software upgrades on devices, and developing maintaining documentation for all managed devices. Must be willing to work with customers, peers, other support teams on coordination of change windows and other project related activity, providing leadership and general team work skills. The ideal candidate should be able to multitask and give equal attention to a variety of functions while under pressure. A requirement for this candidate is to stay up-to-date with current vulnerabilities, attacks, and countermeasures associated with all devices being managed.Job Qualifications: Must have a thorough understanding of general network security practices and conceptsMust understand TCP/IP networking layers, specifically layers 2 3 Knowledge of stateful firewall behavior and managementKnowledge of VPN settings, behavior, and troubleshooting Knowledge of TCP/IP protocols and behaviors through a network and specific devices (primarily firewalls)Knowledge of the OSI model2 - 3 years of hands on experience configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining firewalls2 - 3 years implementing and troubleshooting site-to-site VPNs (IPSeC, etc.) and ability to explain hashing and encryption schemasKnowledge of using TCPDUMP and other trace tools (some built-in vendor specific) to pinpoint issuesAbility to communicate with teammates, customers, and management during critical situations, providing status and action plans for resolutionAbility to multi-task, balancing projects with daily responsibilitiesAbility to review designs for security compliance and functionality to address customer requirements (correct vendors, h/w model, code levels, etc.)Ability and desire to document environments to facilitate team inclusion and training opportunities that will satisfy ongoing supportability (use of Visio, Sharepoint, MS Word, Excel, PPT, etc.)Ability to perform code upgrades/downgrades, as well as provide debug information to vendors when applicable; this requires in-depth knowledge of command line/advanced option menus and knowledge of vendor process(es) for problem ticket submission.Candidate must possess excellent written communication skills and the proven ability to present complex, technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.Experience working in a large government or corporate enterprise environment.Must have strong written and oral communication skills and be self-directed and independent.Desired Security Clearances: CBP Full BI, DHS EOD, or DoD TS preferred.Defense Point Security offers a competitive benefits package to include: Competitive salariesHealth, vision and dental insurance premiums and deductibles are 100% fully paid by the company401(k) - investments matched 100% up to 3%, and 50% up to 5%401(k) is 100% fully vested after 90 days15 days of paid leave the first year10 paid floating holidays that can be used anytimeReimbursement for home Internet (up to $50/month)Reimbursement for personal cell phone / smart phone (up to $100/month)Reimbursement for personal smart phone replacement/upgrade every 2 yearsReimbursement for educational and training expensesRewards for obtaining new IT certificationsComputer-based training (CBT) library on IT and information security topics and certificationsRemote access to a virtual lab for testing/learning opportunitiesFlexible / Alternative Work Schedules
