Job Summary: The Fleet Technician II performs scheduled preventative maintenance based on Company required guidelines and in accordance with CAAS standards where applicable. Repairs and maintains company vehicles and mechanical equipment within the regulations of Department of Transportation (DOT), State Department of Health, Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) and Rural/Metro Corporation.
Essential Functions: Maintenance • Follows strict schedules of maintenance. • Performs the required maintenance schedules in a timely manner. • Observe, diagnose, prioritize and repair various mechanical and electrical problems. • Use various diagnostic equipment, tools and other shop equipment. • Initiates purchase orders for parts and machines. • Performs State inspections of all road vehicles. • Maintains and repairs stretcher and stair chair operations. • Road service calls as necessary to evaluate and/or repair failed vehicles and/or equipment. • Test drives each vehicle over approved route, which includes a combination of city streets and highways for no less than 5 miles. • Serves as a backup to Fleet Technician Lead as needed. Administrative • Data entry into computer system • Logs daily Technician hours on each work order. • Issues fluids used on company vehicles to assigned work orders in computer system. • Completes parts requests and logs parts used from parts room on posting sheet immediately. Customer Service • Works with outside vendors as needed. • Works with internal and external customers. Maintenance • Daily shop cleanup. Compliance • Requires a clean driving report acceptable by Company standards. • Maintains safe and healthy workplace in accordance with all appropriate OSHA standards, company policies and local standard operating procedures. • Complies and enforces all policies and procedures. • Ensures and inspects paperwork for accuracy and compliance. • Responsible for escalating concerns regarding questionable paperwork to appropriate management. • Has successfully completed all required Compliance Training within the required time period. • Has had no compliance related corrective action during the current review period. Training • Participates in all required training sessions, including, but not limited to any mandatory Company training. • Participates actively in ASE / EVT certification programs • Assists in training individuals with lesser experience or skills. Additional Duties: • Perform other duties as directed. • Other duties may be assigned that are specific to the local operation.
Qualifications: • Current state driver’s license • Satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company’s Driving Policy. • At least 5 years experience as a front line mechanic in both gasoline and diesel engines, electrical, brakes, suspension systems, transmissions and A/C, or equivalent combination of education and experience. . Education Requirements: • High School diploma or GED required.
