Job Summary: Uses his/her clinical expertise to plan the delivery of safe, therapeutic, population-specific patient care through assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. With the patient and family central to the care, the RN incorporates the unique characteristics and needs of each patient and family member into the care delivery process. The RN works collaboratively within a multidisciplinary health team to promote wellness and optimize patient outcomes. The RN provides leadership to the team by orienting, mentoring and managing team members to assure that quality care is delivered with compassion, dignity and respect as well as efficiency. The RN participates in unit/department/institutional performance improvement activities that impact patient/family and service outcomes based on professional practice standards. Reports to: Nurse Manager Education: BSN preferred. License/Certification: Current New York State Registered Nurse License. Current BLS/ACLS/PALS/NRP as required by population served, within 1 year of hire. Experience: 2 years of med-surg or tele experienced required for float pool. Skills: Ability to read, write and communicate effectively utilizing the English language. Able to interact effectively with physician, patients, staff and other healthcare professionals. Computer skills required.
