Summary: The Food Service Representative, under the direct supervision of the Food Service Manager at Swain County Hospital, will be responsible for developing and preparing hot food and cold food according to recipes and production sheets for patients, employees, physicians and visitors and volunteers, following safe food handling guidelines established by department. This position will also be responsible for cafeteria and patient food preparation as well as other job related duties.

Education: High School Graduate or equivalent preferred, must be able to read and understand verbal instructions. Experience: Food Service experience preferred.

Physical Requirements: Must have the ability to push/pull carts up to 300 lbs., must be able to lift objects up to 50 lbs. chest high, exposure to change of temperature - freezer (-10 F) and refrigerators (40 F) and be able to stand for long periods of time. Corrected vision and hearing to within normal ranges.

Working Environment: Hospital rooms, clinical department, hospital ground and the surrounding community. Potential exposure to patient who may be physically or verbally abuse. Potential exposure to communicable diseases. This position requires use of gloves, back safety belts and/or hair restraints.
