This position is responsible for accurately forecasting demand to drive supply chain activities throughout the organization. This is done by evaluating the forecast methodology being used to generate the supply chain forecast. The position is also responsible to support the operation with “what-if” scenarios and planning.
Essential Job Duties:
§ Analyze sales history and variability to develop a demand plan/forecast.
§ Adjust forecast models as necessary to improve forecast accuracy.
§ Determine best methods to improve forecast accuracy.
§ Understand how promotional activity, new product distribution and seasonality impact volume fluctuations.
§ Assist the operation in developing proper safety stock strategies.
§ Support the operation in facilitation of phase-in/out process of items.
§ Produce promotional activity reports/recaps through duration of promotions.
§ Become “super user” of Syteline Forecast/Planning module and provide corresponding support to the operation.
§ Actively participate in ongoing evolution of best practices.
§ Collaborate with sales, customer support groups and customers to attain business intelligence vital to developing the most accurate forecast.
§ Establish production schedules to support both immediate needs and longer range capacity requirements in conjunction with production management.
§ Coordinate various internal activities among operational departments to ensure an effective production plan.
§ Interact as necessary with other departments to provide forecast information relevant to their respective areas.
§ Participate in and support new customer integration activities.
§ Work cross functionally to proactively manage aging inventory, slow moving items and discontinued items.
§ Initiate process improvements surrounding aging and slow moving inventory and make recommendations to eliminate waste.
§ Assist with the budget development process.
§ Develop, update and maintain demand planning related SOP’s.
§ Lead or participate in project teams as required.
§ Perform root cause analysis in developing corrective action plans.
§ Develop and manage to relevant KPI’s to support and measure the business.
§ Advise and recommend staffing requirements based on forecast.
§ Assess technology requirements needed to support current or proposed business.
Education & Skills Required:
§ Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Logistics or equivalent, relevant work experience – Required.
§ Five years supply chain and/or sales forecasting / demand planning or equivalent experience – Required.
§ Experience with advanced planning systems – Required.
§ Three to five years’ experience in the automotive industry – Preferred.
§ APICS certification – Preferred.
