A Forklift Operatior learns in general all phases of receiving and storage on his/her assigned shift for all Dry Warehouse material used in the Brownsville plant. Performs specific tasks associated with this process including, but not limited to:
. Receiving daily set-up instructions, pulling required ingredients and materials form storage, and taking them to the production line(s)
. Performing daily routine safety and operating inspection of the fork truck or pallet jack which he/she will be using, recording condition on appropriate from, recognizing problems and reporting to the maintenance technician
. Removing pallets of materials from trucks with a fork truck or pallet jack
. Recording materials received on the daily tally sheets
. Using the fork truck to move the materials to the proper storage location, including sliding the pallet into a rack or sitting on another pallet of materials. Must be able to learn the bay storage system and how to stack and use the system accurately to assure proper inventory count and location of materials for future production
. Restocking bags of breader, batter mix, or other materials should a pallet become unbalanced or if materials fall off; the bags normally weight up to 50 pounds; rolls of packaging materials weigh between 25 and 105 pounds. The operator generally does not lift these materials by hand, only if there is some problem with the load. The operator must secure help from other operators to lift objects that exceed 50 lbs.
. Accurately completing tally sheets and turning them in timely
. Sweeping debris on the floor into small piles, picking material into the proper trash container
. Pushing trash carts to proper disposal area
. Using a low-pressure water hose to wash down the dock consistent with plant waste water and sanitation policies
. Using a rubber squeegee to push water down drains
. Pushing a floor scrubbing machine to clean and dry floors
What do I need to be considered a candidate?
The persons performing this job physically must be able to drive a "sit-down" fork truck, use a "walking" pallet jack, and have excellent vision and depth perception to avoid injuries to self and others or damage to materials
Ability to apply all safe work practices associated with these tasks and work in a safe manner at all times
Ability to apply all GMPs requirements, both personal hygiene and housekeeping, associated with these tasks.
Ability to maintain a clean work area at all times, in line with plant procedures on housekeeping, waste water, and solid management
Demonstrates knowledge of all product safety and quality requirements associated with the process at assigned positions
Ability to dentify problems at his/her assigned work tasks on an on-going basis and determines if solutions is within his/her training and knowledge; if so, to correct problems; if not or if not sure, to communicate to appropriate person for solutions
Ability to develop and maintain a good working relationship with Dry Warehouse Manager and other managers,department members, and other co-workers. Resolves problems and conflicts in an acceptable manner that shows respect for the other person(s)
Ability to cooperate and show commitment to department goals and efforts; attends department meetings and participates in them to the best of his/her ability
Ability to understand overall impact of his/her job on department productivity and plant profitability
Self motivated with a high level of personal productivity
Ability to contribute suggestions for work process improvements to Dry Warehouse Manager or at department meetings
Ability to follow plant rules and policies and Company code of ethics in performing job
Team Player - Assists in orienting and/ or training other team members on assigned tasks as requested
