Due to our continuing expansion, we have an immediate need for a Formulation Chemist with experience in OTC Drug Reformulation and Formulation. The Formulation Chemist will work with divisional, manufacturing and R&D personnel and be responsible for improving existing and creating new pharmaceutical semi-solids and liquid formulations. The Formulation Chemist will also be responsible identifying new raw materials and for technical support at various manufacturing facilities.
Formulate new OTC formulations and evaluate their characteristics.
Detailed understanding on how to scale up a formula, manufacture it and package the product within FDA drug regulations is required.
Strong technical writing skills - authoring experimental protocols, development reports, and technology transfer reports.
Proactively works with members of the division or project team, identifying issues that might delay the project and making recommendations to improve time lines for project completion.
Perform stability/compatibility tests on new formulas; maintain/improve overall product quality; create ingredient lists according to FDA/INCI guidelines; review formulas/raw materials for compliance with International Guidelines
Evaluate new technologies and products as assigned.
Projects as assigned by the Director, Medline R&D.

Requirements for the opportunity include:
Minimum BS from an accredited school in organic chemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, chemical engineering or related field.
3-7+ years of experience in OTC or prescription formulation chemistry and related scale-up to manufacturing. Experience with semi-solid and liquid dosage forms is required. Knowledge of SOPs, GMPs and FDA regulations is required.
Project management experience in a pharmaceutical environment is desired. Experience in transfer of technical process information to manufacturing site is a must.
Detail oriented with excellent organizational, analytical and problem solving skills. Outstanding verbal and written communication.
Negligible travel required.
