The Front Desk Clerk performs a variety of clerical duties while providing professional and courteous support to patients, physicians, and office staff.
The Front Office Clerk is responsible for all front office functions including patient registration, patient relations, insurance verification, handling
medical records, filing, cashiering, telephone duties and computer work.
Duties include but are not limited
Ensures that the physicians and mid-level practitioners have the necessary information to see patients efficiently.
Works at the reception desk. Greets all patients, family members and others warmly using good customer service skills.
Communicates with patients and providers.
Answers telephones when necessary and accurately documents messages.
Checks-in patients and properly documents registration.
Verifies insurance and patient demographics and enters information into computer system.
Files medical records.
Retrieves medical records and delivers to appropriate providers or department.
Copies and faxes information.
Collects co-pays and other payments from patients.
Follows through with assignments and informs supervisor if unable to complete task.
Maintains strict patient confidentiality according to HIPAA guidelines.
Performs related work as required.
Practices and adheres to the "Code of Conduct" philosophy and "Mission and Value Statement".
