We are seeking a talented, creative, and passionate Front-end Engineer/Web Developer for a challenging opportunity to develop and innovate on the eBay buyer experience. You will specialize in creating high performance client side applications powering eBay's global header and advertising related products which have immediate positive impact on millions of users daily.
Who are we?
We are the Buyer Experience Applications team that is responsible for building content platforms and SEO. We are a revenue producing team that contributes to 9% of eBay’s profit margin and has a direct impact on the overall experience for our users. From tailoring the experience for our buyers to impacting how they make informed decisions. And trust us that it is far easier said than done when we are literally building the face of world’s largest e-commerce website, are serving millions of users for eBay every day, and need to be nimble & innovative enough to re-imagine the part of the Buyer Experience on eBay.
What will you do?
You will contribute to design, development and agile efforts for the presentation tier at eBay.
You will enjoy the challenges of mastering the behavior of the major browsers to deliver a consistent and elegant user experience.
Define, design, and implement complex, multi-tier distributed software applications focused on improving buyer experience
Develop innovative solutions that not only meet functionality requirements but meet performance, scalability and reliability requirements while adhering to implementation schedules, development principles and product goals
Must be able to independently design, code and test major features, as well as work jointly with other team members to deliver complex features
Help define product requirements, estimate engineering effort, plan implementation, rollout system changes and evaluate product performance
Share release management duties on feature rollouts, share on-call responsibilities Qualifications

What we are looking for:
BS/BA in Computer Science or related field plus 5 years work experience or MS plus 4 years of relevant experience
Have a passion for front end engineering, have a high bar for quality and willingly to push boundaries – be able to think outside the box and bring in new perspective and thinking to the team
Experience in developing consumer facing web applications using Ajax
Experience in basic cross browser support, caching and optimization techniques (css sprite, minify, gzip, data uri) for faster page load times
Experience in JSP and developing UI components (taglibs, jQuery plugins) with support for accessibility
Knowledge in any one of these: LESS, bootstrap.js, backbone.js, underscore.js will be considered a plus
Open Source projects and startup experience is a plus
