You will be happy to know the Platform Frameworks team is seeking a Front-end Platform Engineer . You will conceptualize, develop and support a cutting-edge platform (Raptor Framework - ) that powers the latest generation of eBay applications. This platform enables front-end developers to build rich web applications that leverage the latest technologies and best practices.

Who are we?
The Platform Frameworks team is responsible for the platforms on which eBay applications are built. This is a great opportunity for someone to make a big impact as we are in the early stages of a technology refresh. You will have an opportunity to experiment with latest technologies and quickly see how your products are meeting requirements. This is a small, agile, customer focused team with lots of responsibilities and interesting challenges.

What will you do?
Design new Raptor framework improvements and features (eBay's next-generation web application platforms) in Java, Javascript, Node.js, Scala, Python, and PHP technology stacks. Design and develop infrastructural core services which are essential to web applications, such as, local/distributed caching, JS/CSS/Image resources aggregation & optimization, application configuration, content management, etc. Continue to evolve these platforms to conform to the new emerging web standards in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript and other RIA/RUI requirements Design and implement tools, libraries and processes to improve development agility for internal eBay developers Help advance eBay technical culture and the technical industry through presentations, blogging, conferences, and other social participation Other usual engineering activities scoping, prioritizing, planning, bug fixing, documentation, and having fun

You will have relentlessly high standards for yourself and everyone you work with and constantly looking for ways to improve the systems you own.

8+ years of large scale, full life cycle development experience 5+ years of experience in JavaScript Deep knowledge and experience of web application frameworks, HTML/HTTP, DOM, CSS, JavaScript, AJAX, cross-browser compatibility issues, and client-side performance optimization. Experiences in Node.js, Express, and template systems such as Dust, Mustache Knowledge of J2EE technologies (JSP/Servlet, JDBC, RMI, JNI, JMS, JMX, etc.), RDBMS and NoSQL databases, SOA and Web Services (SOAP, REST) A successful track record of creating frameworks and APIs that enable modular, extensible design Excellent oral and written communication skills with ability to describe complex concepts in a concise fashion with attention to detail Technical Bachelors Degree or equivalent
