*Education/Experience: * Six years of experience as a Fuel / hazardous materials handler and knowledge of United nations performance oriented packaging. Working knowledge and/or familiarity with DOS procedures and guidelines and department of transportation movement of hazardous materials procedures and readiness, knowledge of warehouse storing and Depot operations as well as knowledge of FAR and DOSAR as it relates to fuel and depot reporting requirements. Previous work in AFRICA is a plus.

*Summary of Duties/Responsibilities: * Performs work such as delivery and pumping of fuel oil, diesel oil, propane, gasoline, and similar products to designated locations. Operates pump to transfer petroleum products from storage tanks to delivery vehicles (a two in-a-half-ton truck with 1200-gallon petroleum capacity/a two in-a-half-ton truck with 1500-gallon propane capacity), and into user tanks. Handles lines and hoses; checks valves, tanks, or other equipment used in the accomplishment of fuel distribution to assure proper functioning. Maintains records of all deliveries and reports hazardous conditions/problems encountered during delivery to the project or program managers. Tests storage tanks for water content on a weekly basic, and volume of petroleum products on hand on a monthly basis.
Performs warehousing duties which typically involve receiving, unloading, checking, storing, testing, issuing, and delivery of propane and petroleum products, acids, paints, and solvents. Stores materials in assigned racks and/or area according to established procedures. Maintains responsibility for storage and disposal of returned drums, sorting returnable from non-returnable for pick-up by supplier. Selects and issues material from storage, verifying information on documents, loading material/delivers to customer.
May be required to operate forklift truck, as an integral part of performing warehousing duties. May Performs first echelon maintenance such as checking tires, water, oil, propane, leaks, etc., and reports any necessary maintenance beyond that which can be performed by the operator. Conducts warehouse inventories, maintaining tally listings during the count. Assists in determining the reasons for shortages or misplaced items. Maintains running record of inventory balance. Matches, checks, and compares data on storage instruments with materials to be stored against materials already in storage locations. Stores, stacks and/or rotates materials under the first in first out (FIFO) concept using common hand tools and materials handling equipment up to 10,000 pounds capacity.
Alerts appropriate authority of materials having serious discrepancies. Sorts a variety of material items and items related to local use supplies. Compares material identification and contents physical characteristics to documentation accompanying material. Checks items for obvious signs of condition such as dents, broken and missing parts, and corrosion. Assures all documentation accompanying material is complete and accurate. Complies with established safety, environmental, equipment use and security requirements. Instructs other employees assigned to the task order on specific tasks relating to proper handling and storage of hazardous materials.
May perform other duties as assigned.
