Mildred Elley, a private multi campus institution, is seeking a Full–Time Medical Studies Instructor for appointment at its Albany Campus.
Teach courses in the Medical Assisting programs:
Medical Terminology: (3 credit course) Students learn how to “translate” medical terms and gain an understanding of word parts.
Medical Insurance: (3 credit course) This course introduces students to issues and standards in the health insurance industry. Students learn medical billing and claims processing while familiarizing themselves with the ICD-9/10- CM and CPT manuals.
Medical Office Management : (3 Credit Course) Students learn the standards, skills, and procedures that are performed by administrative medical assistants. Practical experience is given in medical information and record management, scheduling appointments, medical office finances, and written and verbal communication.
Other allied health electives such as Hematology and Phlebotomy, Cardiovascular Care and Procedures, Introduction to Patient Care, and Medical Law and Ethics.
Instructor will also evaluate and grade students’ class work, performances, projects, assignments, and papers. Prepare and deliver lectures to undergraduate students on topics within the approved course descriptions and syllabi.
Requirements/Required & Preferred Credentials:
Requirements vary and are contingent upon Department of Education approval.
LPN, RN, Associate's degree plus licensure/certification, Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s degree in Nursing is strongly preferred. Professional certifications/licensure, coursework in the field, documented work experience in the field, and higher education teaching experience are required.
Commensurate based on experience.
