The Department of Family and Consumer Sciences is seeking candidates for a one-year, full-time visiting professor teaching position in Family and Consumer Sciences. Responsibilities begin mid-August 2013. Academic rank will be based on degrees and experience. The compensation level depends upon the education and experience of the appointee. The Department of Family and Consumer Sciences is comprised of five full-time and eight part-time faculty with a strong commitment to high quality teaching, service, and applied scholarship. There are approximately 170 students working toward one of five bachelor’s degrees: 1) Child and Adolescent Development, 2) Dietetics, 3) Family and Consumer Sciences, 4) Fashion and Interiors – with concentrations in Fashion Merchandising and Interior Design, and 5) Nutrition and Food – with concentrations in Food Service Management and Nutrition and Health

The University is seeking an individual with the ability to teach across the curriculum within Family and Consumer Sciences. Candidates must have a Ph.D./Ed.D. in an area of family and consumer sciences. Teaching interests need to include human development; personal, family and community health; personal and consumer financial management; and supervision of internships. These teaching interests would complement the current strengths of the department. A commitment to excellent teaching at the undergraduate level in a Christian liberal arts context, and possessing a potential for high quality scholarship and service are essential for a successful candidate.

  • Teach undergraduate courses (12 units per semester) that include courses in the candidate’s expertise in family and consumer sciences; total of 24 semester units a year
