Chevron is accepting online applications for the position of G&G Developer/Strategist located in Houston, TX through February 22, 2013 at 11:59 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time).

Position Details:
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Experienced technical professional to participate driving strategies, designing and developing software for G&G Application Integration and technical knowledge management tools.
  • Responsible for providing strong hands-on technical leadership on a small project team charged with designing and developing software to capture, structure, manage and deliver-on-demand geoscience interpretation and modeling integration and knowledge management tools.
  • Designing and developing software applications and proprietary tools to manage geoscience and reservoir engineering application integration and knowledge management.
  • Participating as a team member in technical software development projects.
  • Assisting project managers to identify options for the most suitable solutions to achieve business objectives.
  • Assist in setting the strategic direction for Knowledge Management and proprietary data integration tools for geoscience and reservoir engineering data types.
  • Ensuring alignment among similar software designs and performing impact assessments of design changes across environments, modules, and functions.
  • Act as a liaison with external application vendors and internal customers to optimize the efficiency of knowledge capture and transfer interfaces.
  • Interfacing with operating company stakeholders and users to evaluate, identify, develop and implement effective data/application integration and technical knowledge management solutions.
  • Performing/supervising software testing and documentation.
  • Maintaining software system configuration and documentation.
  • Assisting in software deployment and follow-up user support, as needed.
  • Note: Position works closely with technical IT and Geoscience professionals, and with software application users, both within the development community and from other Upstream user groups throughout the Corporation.

    Required Qualifications:

  • The position requires a strong background and demonstrated leadership in technical software design and development on Windows and in the Linux environment using Microsoft Visual Studio and Eclipse software development environment.

  • Experience with software development kits written in C, C++, C#, and/or Java used to access technical data from third-party vendors.
  • Scripting tools and environment setup knowledge is also necessary for proper software deployment.
  • Strong database development skills including database table design, performance tuning, SQL development, and database connectivity involving a diverse set of database instances which include Oracle, PostgreSQL, and SQLite.
  • A Basic understanding of seismic interpretation & earth modeling software such as Landmark, Petrel, EPOS, and Gocad/SKUA.
  • Strong background and demonstrated leadership in technical software design and development on Windows and in the Linux environment using Microsoft Visual Studio and Eclipse software development environment.
  • Broad experience and thorough understanding of XML syntax, structure and functionality.
  • Able to work effectively and cooperatively in a diverse team environment. Fosters collaboration with team members and customers.
  • A recognized team player that can communicate complex technical issues in a clear, concise, understandable manner, both orally and in writing. Encourages open expression of diverse ideas and opinions.

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in 1) a Geoscience or Petroleum Engineering software development environment, and 2) a global organization, effectively working with user stakeholders and clients in other parts of the corporation, are definite pluses.
