Purpose
This position will serve a the lead coordinator on the BAID grant funded by NSF and will provide technical expertise, student supervision, community extension and coordination with collaborators.
Essential Functions
Administer multiple instances of ArcGIS Server and ArcGIS SDE Databases in a virtualized server environment. Support data services for web mapping application. Use of Differentially Corrected Global Positioning Systems hardware and post processing software. Liaison with Scientist and Stakeholders from various agencies and organizations to collect data on their projects. Manages individual project tasks related to GIS, database design and management, mapping, and data acquisition. Produces detailed map graphics for a diversity of projects using various graphics and software applications.

Required qualifications
Bachelors Degree and three years of experience, related to the statement of duties and responsibilities; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of ArcInfo, ArcGIS, and/or ArcServer use to support projects including data creation, data editing/modification and analysis. Knowledge of ESRI data models including ArcInfo coverages, shapefiles, and geodatabases. Excellent written and communication skills. Strong cartographic skills. Experience collecting and processing data using Differentially Corrected Global Positioning Systems and developing GIS applications. Solid understanding of GIS concepts and practices. Solid knowledge of spatial data transformation, management, manipulation, modeling, and analysis. Solid knowledge of arctic system science and associated research priorities.
