This position is based in Pittsburgh, PA and provides
technical support and project management on commercial,
industrial, and public projects. Primary focus will be
on Appalachian Basin oil and gas related projects.
However, the candidate may be requested to support other
projects/programs that are also managed and supported in
the Pittsburgh office. Essential duties and
responsibilities include the following: Provide civil
engineering/site design support to on-going and new
projects; Plan and direct geotechnical investigations
and design for engineered fills and building
foundations; Preparation of construction documents
(plans and specifications) and construction bid
packages; Provide direction to staff personnel to
complete project tasks and mentor junior level technical
support personnel; Plan, schedule, conduct and
coordinate detailed phases of technical work; Prepare
project proposals and successfully complete the awarded
project in accordance with the proposal schedule and
budget; Interface with Client Project Managers,
government regulators, other contractors and other
representatives; Creation of business development
materials for inclusion in proposals and marketing to
new clients; and, business development calls to
prospective clients.
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field
is required; advanced degree such as a Masters is
preferred. Eight to fifteen years of related experience
is preferred. Professional Registration (e.g., P.E.) is
required. Candidates must have experience managing
projects and providing strong technical
direction/support for geotechnical and site development
projects. Experience with geotechnical design (such as -
shallow and deep foundations, slope stability, retaining
walls, settlement) and construction, geotechnical
laboratory testing, engineered fills, construction
monitoring, and soil erosion and sediment controls.
Experience interfacing with state and local agencies as
well as community boards for project planning is
beneficial. Successful candidate will be competent to
serve as a project manager on design and design/build
projects and oversee and certify the work of others.
Candidates must have a broad knowledge of civil
construction requirements and possess the knowledge to
successfully perform geotechnical investigation and
design activities including laboratory testing and data
interpretation. Experienced at taking civil and site
design projects from inception (e.g., proposal
preparation) through design, construction and to
completion is preferred. Water pipeline design and oil
and gas industry experience is a plus; especially drill
pads, gas pipelines, or compressors. Computer skills
must include Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience
with GSTABL7 and SUPPORT-IT/PILE BUCK computer programs
is a plus. Candidate must be able and available to
travel via land and/or air and possess a valid driver’s
license in good standing.
