DESCRIPTION

Wiser is now seeking top-notch talent to join our successful teams. Currently, we are recruiting for an IT Specialist in our St. Louis, MO location. This position will be a nearly 50/50 split of work time performing IT and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) data production activities. We are looking for someone who has expertise in performing a variety of Information Systems (IS) development, maintenance and support functions and has the ability or experience with performing GIS data production.

DUTIES

  • Performs routine hardware troubleshooting, upgrading, and repairing of Windows-based client computers and peripherals.
  • Responds to user hardware and software problems in a timely and professional manner.
  • Assists IT Manager with systems administration tasks.
  • Researches new hardware and software needs based on supplied requirements. Prepares recommendations for purchase and/or testing of hardware and software to IT Manager.
  • Handles office furniture and computer equipment in setting up or moving workstations.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work environment.
  • Installs new software releases, system upgrades, evaluates and installs patches and resolves software related problems.
  • Supports and maintains user account information including rights, security and system groups.
  • Performs systems backup and recovery of Company data.
  • Compiling geographic feature or terrain data from orthophotographic imagery sources following detailed feature extraction guidelines.
  • Cleaning geographic data topology errors and omissions.
  • Performing digital feature extraction from multiple data sources.
  • Attribute digital data accurately.
  • Suggest and implement improved work methods.
  • Understand and follow complex project specific guidance.
  • Independently use technical resource documents and/or production guides.
QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate's Degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Services, Geography, Earth Science, or related field (practical experience in IT or GIS field may substitute for degree requirements).
  • Three months to one year of practical IT experience.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience with geospatial data collection, analysis, and/or conversion with ESRI products (ArcMap, ArcToolBox, ArcInfo, ArcSDE).
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server and/or ArcGIS is a plus.
  • Ability to clearly convey instructions for system use and operation to users.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to work well with a diverse team of people.
  • Must be able to multi-task and troubleshoot for technical solutions.
  • Must be punctual to all work schedules and perform job assignments in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Must be able to work under conditions of frequent interruptions and be attentive to details.
  • Must be able to adjust to unexpected changes in work demand to meet deadlines.
  • Technical knowledge of computer hardware and operating system software.
  • US citizenship required.
  • Must pass a stereo vision test.
