The Tech Museum of Innovation is seeking a Gallery Program/Staff Developer to prototype and develop programs, lead and support gallery staff through delivery, redesign based on guest and staff experience, document, and measure success for design-based learning programs that inspire the innovator in everyone.
This role focuses on developing not only innovative programs for gallery spaces, but also a highly talented and motivated gallery staff team, constantly modeling and developing in others the mindset and practices that lead to innovation.
Responsibilities or Duties
Collaborate with Director of Museum Experiences and Learning Director to define direction for programs based on The Tech’s mission, design challenge learning approach, and current offerings.
Develop programs for Hands-On Science Workshop, The Tech Studio, design challenge exhibits, and science and technology events throughout the year.
Coordinate with Exhibits team to secure needed program supplies.
Prototype programs with gallery staff and guests; refine through multiple iterations based on feedback. Finalize program documents and provide marketing copy.
Develop and lead program trainings for Gallery staff/volunteers. Play an active leadership role developing Gallery staff/volunteers through ongoing delivery.
Support delivery and get feedback directly from guests, staff, volunteers; continue to redesign programs where needed to better meet their needs.
Spend 50% of time in the Galleries working directly with staff and guests.
Execute programs on weekend days when needed (exhibit/program launches, Open Make @ The Tech, Makerspace @ The Tech, etc.).
Requirements or Key Qualifications
Demonstrated passion and talent to captivate people through STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) learning programs.
A college degree, preferably in a STEAM or education-related field.
Experience developing and/or delivering informal learning programs.
Ability to train and develop a team towards high-level program delivery.
Positive, solution-based mindset geared towards collaborative innovation.
Project management skills to lead towards successful program launches, on schedule with high-quality results.
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire a diverse group of staff and volunteers.
