Start Time 7:30 am End Time 3:30 pm

Grade Level 12

Duties & Responsibilities: (Essential Functions of Position, Major Responsibilities, Summary of Key Duties, Special Assignments, Relationships)

Salary- $20/hour

Maintain ongoing communication with administration/counselors/teachers/Gear up students and Gear up parents

Work with Gear UP students to graduate on time

Monitor Gear UP students' attendance/provide support

Ensure as many Gear up students as possible attempt (at least once but up to 3 times) a college entrance exam (Compass, SAT,ACT)

Ensure as many students as possible complete and submit college applications (the goal is three per student)

Ensure as many students as possible complete and file the FAFSA (this is required to receive a Gear UP scholarship)

Provide assistance with application process (college, scholarship, financial aid, etc)

Offer academic assistance/tutoring to Gear UP Students when necessary

Communicate with state Gear UP Staff

Attend Gear UP related events (conferences, Gear Up Parent/Student Meetings, etc)

Maintain student/parent contact logs and enter data into the State Data collecting system .

Be prompt to work and have excellent attendance
Physical Requirements of Position: (HBV Yes No)

Must be able to walk throughout the day and climb stairs

Must be able to push/pull/lift a minimum of 20 pounds
Special Qualification Desired: (Personal Qualities, Education, Skills Needed, Experience, Etc.)

Experience working with/ teaching high school students

Ability to work independently

Good communication skills

Good understanding of computer technology

Must possess strong inter-personal skills to work with a group of diverse students and parents.

Successful candidate must possess strong inter-personal skills with a proven record of building rapport with culturally diverse students and their families to insure that each child reaches his/her full potential.
