Supervises multiple crews performing maintenance, repair, construction, installation and surveying of water and sewer lines and any other related items/equipment for a division of the Watershed Management Department.
Supervises, directs and evaluates assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, and directing and reviewing work.
Examines and inspects work progress, equipment, vehicles and work sites to verify safety and ensure that specifications are met.
Plans, assigns and directs crews and workers engaged in construction, maintenance, repair activities and surveying to routine and emergency sites, including after hours, weekends, and holidays.
Estimates time and materials and plans material support for project installations.
Prepares and maintains a variety of documents including personnel, work and maintenance reports, logs and records.
Plans work assignments, assigns personnel to each service request, and coordinates service schedule with other crews, outside contractors and other government agencies .
Analyzes, makes decisions, and responds to emergency situations.
Trains crew supervisors on how to train their crews.
Handles customer complaints and assigns qualified personnel to service these complaints.
May trouble shoot complex mechanical problems and coordinate the repair and preventative maintenance of facilities, equipment and/or vehicles.
Reviews construction drawings and plans.
May supervise the construction and renovation at Watershed Management facilities.
Monitors crews and work sites to minimize delay.
High school diploma or GED; six years of experience in construction or maintenance of roads, buildings, water and sewer, electrical or electronics technology or a related field. A minimum of two years of crew supervision experience required. Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia Driver’s License. May be required to possess a commercial driver’s license appropriate to the level of equipment operated. Must obtain a Georgia Water Distribution System Operator license or Wastewater Collection System Operator license within one year of employment. A combination of training and experience above the minimum requirements will be considered.
