This position will be a member of the Fossil Power, Generation Planning, Air Quality Control Systems (AQCS) Asset Management Group. Key activities include but are not limited to:

Provide technical and financial asset management leadership for all flue gas emission control systems and equipment for NOx control (SCRs, SNCRs), particulate control (ESP, baghouses), SO2 control (FGD scrubbers), mercury control (sorbent injection), and other required emission controls as determined by regulations,
Continued development, maintenance, and responsibility for the fleet’s NOx Optimization Program (including catalyst management plan),
Continued development, planning, maintenance, and responsibility for the fleet’s coal combustion by-products disposal program (includes bottom ash, fly ash, bed ash, and FGD scrubber effluent),
Identification and development of projects to support Fossil Generation strategies,
Utilization of computer models/spreadsheets to support long range planning,
Evaluation, operational and maintenance performance benchmarking, and optimization of the fleet’s AQCS systems and equipment,
Participation with industry organizations supporting all functions and aspects of AQCS,
Direct interface with AQCS consultants, testing laboratories, catalyst manufacturers & regenerators, testing consultants, and traditional architect / engineering firms to ensure timely support of fleet needs and those of other departments (e.g., Environmental Services), and
Coordinate with fleet plant management, asset management, engineering, maintenance, construction, environmental services, sourcing, contracts, and executive management.

The incumbent will be expected to provide leadership and facilitation to groups that may have diverse needs and is expected to help guide processes to reach a consensus objective or solution. This position provides fleet asset management AQCS technical and financial leadership and as such, will be interfacing with executives on a regular basis. Successful candidate must possess excellent communication, analytical, organizational and time management skills and be a self starter that can perform required duties with minimal direction.

Salary grade level for this position is 13/15 and will be determined based on applicable experience and background.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following . Other duties may be assigned. In this position, either directly or through others, the incumbent will:

Support the development of the Fossil Generation long range AQCS plans and related asset strategies. Continue development and maintenance of AQCS technical documentation currently archived in a document management database
Act as primary liaison between Generation Planning and Power Plant Management, Wholesale Markets, Fossil Engineering and Support, Environmental, and Legal. Provide leadership and guidance on major Power AQCS projects and initiatives and ensure compliance with Luminant Power's business plans and strategies.
Prepare and analyze standard/ad hoc reports to support the Fossil Generation long range Capital and O&M Special Project plans as related to AQCS issues.
Develop and evaluate projects, studies, and operational initiatives to support Fossil Generation AQCS strategies.
Support planning for waste water, solid waste compliance, and site water balance to ensure operational flexibility.
Lead special projects as assigned.
Assist in the development of new planning, evaluation and projection models/tools.
Facilitate the optimization of AQCS Capital and O&M special projects through active participation on assigned committees and teams established to support the Capital Allocation Process.
Maintain spare catalyst inventory for fleet reactors in secure, safe storage, provide regeneration planning and budgeting as appropriate for the fleet’s six year planning horizon to maintain required SCR performance consistent with fleet strategy.
Conduct internal and external benchmarking and analysis of Operational and Financial performance of Luminant Fossil Generation AQCS Assets.
Provide AQCS oversight and coordination for the long-term planning of Scheduled Plant Overhauls to deliver:
Optimized SCR performance and catalyst management
Minimized Wholesale Replacement Power Cost
CapEx and O&M Special Projects Benefits Delivery
Compliance with all EPA, TCEQ regulatory commitments
Air emission compliance and operational flexibility
Foster and maintain relationships with clients, related stakeholders and third party vendors.
Conduct all efforts to produce an environmentally compliant, safe, and cost effective plan / strategy.
Participate in Industry technical forums such as Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) applicable programs
Communicate effectively at all levels of the Company through both written and verbal exchanges.

Bachelors degree in Engineering, Mathematics or related discipline required.
Minimum 2 years experience in development of long range asset management plans specifically focused on air quality issues.
Minimum 2 years experience in systems and equipment associated with coal fired AQCS.
Strong communication, presentation and report preparation skills required.
Well developed skills in spreadsheet modeling and graphical display of information using Microsoft Office and other computer applications required.
Demonstrated experience in project economic valuation techniques, analysis and processes.
