The Global Sourcing Manager leads the total effort related to driving competitive advantage and cost savings for Alcoa in $125MM in global spend for chemicals, bulk gases and BCS coatings. The Global Sourcing Manager uses their expert knowledge of the creation and management of leveraged agreements, the management of key supplier and customer relationships, and the effective execution of commodity planning and management processes, in the successful implementation, execution, and compliance to global procurement and commodity/spend category strategies, contracts, processes, and policies. This position will lead a cross-functional global team consisting of CM, Procurement Operations and Market Intelligence personnel to focus on performing these functions for all identified Regional/Global leverage opportunities.

Business Alignment

Responsible for all elements of commodity management for chemicals and gases, including: strategic understanding of the supply market place, pricing and term negotiations, preparation and analysis of Global/Regional bid proposals/packages, supplier selection, negotiation and communication with users across plants and business units (BU’s).

Provides expertise regarding chemicals and gases commercial, technology and market/trends so as to advise internal users of chemcials and gases (materials or services) and generate cost savings and value to bottom line.

Strategy Development

Interfaces with global strategic suppliers to solve problems involving pricing, supplier performance, or any other matters that may arise.

With support of BU staff, CM and Procurement Operations, manages contracting, tactical and transactional activity for global lubricants across multiple sites/plants in accordance with approved processes and policies.

Execution

Leads the development, implementation and communication of strategic sourcing strategies for the global chemicals, gases and BCS coatings spend.

Develops and maintains global and regional contracts that are sound commercially and provide optimum protection of company assets.

Quantifies and reports implementation gap closure and value of recommended sourcing strategies.

Contributes to detailed planning and execution of improvement actions with chemicals, gases and BCS coatings users and suppliers.

Complies with all Procurement ASAT, SOX and other procedural requirements.

Uses appropriate risk management and audit frameworks effectively.

Proactively leads two cross-functional global teams – chemicals/gases and BCS coatings - in the development of comprehensive strategies by identifying opportunities for process improvement and cost savings that contribute to achieving superior results. Provides strategic leadership and direction for team members of the chemicals and gases team.

Manages strategic internal and externals (supplier) business relationships to gain a comprehensive understanding of BU requirements and supplier capabilities.

Maintains a current understanding of chemicals, gases and BCS coatings industry best practices and technology trends by participating in training programs and organizations, attending seminars, interacting with Alcoa Market Intelligence and researching current periodicals and studies.

Identifies metrics, tools, and processes to optimize sourcing and supplier activities and efficiencies and work collaboratively with chemicals and gases team members to prioritize and drive implementation.

Manages global, executive-level business relationships within BU’s and with key chemicals, gases and BCS coatings suppliers.

Provides insight and practices from outside of Alcoa to stretch internal thinking/practices.

Builds organizational consensus.

Manages global chemicals, gases and BCS coatings programs.

Manages the execution of supplier contracts and pricing strategies.

Analyzes global chemicals, gases and BCS coatings spend portfolio and through the chemicals/gases and BCS coatings teams determines overall procurement approach based on magnitude of dollars, strategic importance and opportunity for value delivery.

Analyzes, supports and actively participates in the development and implementation of chemicals, gases and BCS coatings sourcing strategies, that aligned with global and regional strategies.

Manages contracting, tactical and transactional activity for chemicals, gases and BCS coatings across multiple sites/plants in accordance with approved processes and policies.

Responsible for delivering and tracking quantifiable financial benefits and value creation proportionate to the global chemicals, gases and BCS coatings spend.

Develops and maintains global and regional contracts that are commercially sound and provide optimum protection of company assets.

Facilitates the transfer of best practices and continuous improvement processes and practices and the generation of new savings ideas for the global chemicals, gases and BCS coatings spend.

Exhibits subject matter expertise regarding commercial and technology trends so as to advise internal users on current and future market capabilities.

Collaborates with BU purchasing personnel in maintaining the standardized leveraging process for all Regional/Global Leverageable Materials. Facilitates this process by providing the necessary training, communications, and program management infrastructure.

Manages the execution of the leveraging process and the overall Strategic Sourcing process for Regional/Global Leverageable Materials. Along with Regional Procurement Operations personnel for chemicals and gases, acts as a central point of contact between Procurement and the Business Units for all communications related to the chemicals and gases team. This includes the communication of standard processes, best practices, progress reporting, issue resolution, and review coordination between/among the BUs and Procurement. Acts as the central point of accountability for chemicals, gases and BCS coatings global team savings.

Manages and provides support in fostering key supplier relationships to create short-term and long-term value for Alcoa. Leads all efforts in educating the appropriate suppliers in the principles of ABS. Works with supply base to implement the principles of ABS which will offer improvement in product quality and delivery, efficient support of administrative processes, and adherence to all identified performance requirements.

Along with Regional Procurement Operations personnel for chemicals, gases and BCS coatings, provides an interface for Procurement in dealings with the North American treasury group for chemicals, gases and BCS coatings involving Alcoa's strategic relationships with banks (as applicable). This includes all interaction with banking issues on corporate/procurement cards as well as equipment financing (leasing).

Manages the spend and usage analysis for chemicals, gases and BCS coatings under management. Provides opportunity analysis to BU’s to support the leveraged process. Works with Market Intelligence to develop coverage of global chemicals, gases and BCS coatings markets.

Provides support on a consultative basis in performing Market Intelligence studies. Works collaboratively with GMI personnel in accessing and analyzing market data to optimize Alcoa’s competitive position.

Provides cost forecast information to Procurement and BU stakeholders.

Preferred Location is Pittsburgh, PA but will consider candidates to work at any other Alcoa US based location
