Reports to : Communications Department

Job Description:
The National MS Society, National Capital Chapter is looking for a talented individual to help develop and design Chapter publications, including newsletters, program brochures and direct mail pieces. Contribute your graphic design skills and gain experience working for a world free of MS.

Requirements:
Internship takes place August through December 2012
Intern must work a minimum of 12 hours a week for 8 weeks
Position is best suited for students currently enrolled in an art education program with a focus on Graphic Design
Position is an unpaid internship

Primary Responsibilities:
Develop and design numerous publications for client programs and services, special events and traditional fundraising
Support the Chapter's graphic design department on special projects as assigned, such as editing mass-market brochures and the Chapter's newsletter
Contribute to or otherwise assist the Graphic Design Coordinator

Skills Desired:
Qualified applicants should have:
Working knowledge of Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator
Strong foundation in the principles of Graphic Design and Typography.
Desire to add real work to one's portfolio, and gain a greater understanding of design in a non-profit work environment
Good oral and written communication abilities and a desire to work with a variety of people
Ability to take initiative and a proactive approach to daily tasks, and organize well
Interest in and dedication to our mission for a world free of MS
