Responsibilities & Requirements:|
Under the direct supervision of the Program Director and/or Program Coordinator, the Group Worker is responsible for creating activities for school-aged children that foster overall character building in an before/after school program setting.
Scope of Responsibilities:
create and implement a variety of activities for school-aged children; follow program schedule including snack time, homework time, cleanup, and other times set for activities; assist in maintaining high standard of health and safety keeping the health and welfare of all children in mind at all times; participate and assist in the pool program (if any), schools out and holiday break programs; drive a bus to pick up children from schools we service and taking them to our facilities, other duties as assigned.
High school diploma or GED. 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours of credits from an accredited college or university with 6 semester or 9 quarter hours in courses related directly to child care and or child development, elementary education, physical education, recreation, camping or related fields. Must have a validdrivers license, older then 21 and successfully complete YMCA Driver Certification Course and pass the driving record background.
1560 clock hours of experience in a recreational program or licensed day care center serving school-age children or a license exempt school age child care program operated by a public or private school, and 6 semester hours or 9 quarter hours of credit from an accredited college or university related to school age child care, child development or related field.
High school diploma or equivalency certificate plus 3120 clock hours of experience in a recreational program, kindergarten, or licensed day care center serving school age children or a license exempt school age child care program operated by a public or private school.
FOR DCFS LICENSED PROGRAMS/ CHILDREN SERVICES:
Associates Degree - 60 semester hours of college including 9 Hours in Child Development, Recreation, Physical Education or equivalent work/education experience; must have a minimum of one year experience in a school-aged program; must demonstrate basic reading, writing, and communication skills at a level consistent with entry into college.
