Purpose Provides security support for Applied Research Laboratories.

Essential Functions Make security checks and fire inspections of each area. Answer switchboard, operate fax machine, computer, security equipment and public address system. Identify employees, visitors and check badges. Provide entry to vehicles and issue temporary badges. Complete various log entries and forms. Provide backup for mail room receiving and delivery. Monitor and chart operation of equipment being tested.

Marginal/Incidental functions Drive vehicle, operate mail room equipment and other tasks as assigned.

Required qualifications High school grad/GED. Class "C" Operator's Driver's License. Applicant selected must provide a current 3 year Driving Record from the current state of residence. Must obtain a Texas Driver's License within 30 days after entering Texas as a new resident. Demonstrated communication skills/ability to pay attention to detail/produce accurate work. Must be flexible to work varied shift assignments. Ability to use common office equipment and make complete and effective security rounds several times during each shift. U.S. Citizenship. Applicant selected will be subject to government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information at the level appropriate to the project requirements of the position. Employment will be contingent on selected applicant submitting application for access and receiving notification of eligibility within a time period to be specified in the job offer. If eligibility is confirmed within the specified period, employment must begin within 30 days of confirmation of eligibility. Eligibility for access to classified information must continue without interruption during employment. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications More than one year experience as a guard or police officer. Formal training in law enforcement.

Working conditions Uniforms and/or personal protection equipment (furnished) May work in all weather conditions May work around standard office conditions May work around electrical and mechanical hazards Use of manual dexterity Climbing of stairs Lifting and moving Weekend, evening and holiday work including variable shifts. Shift work will include shifts at the Lake Travis Test Station.

A criminal history background check will be required for finalist(s) under consideration for this position.

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas ( TRS ), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
