Our program runs mornings, afternoons, evenings and weekends. Instructor I - $8.00/hr; Coach 2 - $9.00/hr; Coach 3 - $11.90/hr.
We are specifically looking for individuals that are able to coach at the team level and work afternoons and evenings for practices and weekends for meets.
This class is responsible for providing specialized instruction in gymnastics for Beginning to Advanced levels to participants ranging in ages from 2-1/2 to 17 years old and coaching of age-group competitive teams ages 7 to 17 years old. The incumbent works in partnership with other employees, departments/divisions, external entities, and the public in delivering effective and innovative services. Provide holistic services to internal and external customers by seeking ways to integrate programs or services provided by other departments, divisions, and external entities.
Essential Required Tasks/Examples of Duties:

Teaches class content appropriate to the class description and appropriate level of skill to each participant including Compulsory and Optional routines. Demonstrate gymnastics techniques as required by class level including Compulsory and Optional routines. This will include a full range of physical movement including tumbling, bending, stooping, lifting, pushing with arms and hands, walking, standing, etc. Provides coaching during competitive meets. May assist supervisor in preparation of hosting meets. Observe, record and evaluate each participant’s activities and development; identify and convey programs for development and improvement. Follows and enforces safety rules and regulations of the gym. Set-up and take down equipment as required. Tests and rates participants on skill development. Provides feedback to class participants and parents. Provide a safe environment for all participants; enforce all safety and building rules; complete any necessary forms and reports. Attend scheduled meetings as required. Identifies and recommends improvements in divisional and departmental operations to ensure functions are efficient and cost effective. Takes proper safety precautions, anticipates unsafe circumstances, and acts accordingly to prevent accidents. Uses all required safety equipment. Performs related duties as required.
Training - None.
Experience - At least 6 months experience participating or coaching gymnastics which could include any time as a gymnast beyond the Advanced Beginning Level; or, any time spent as a teacher's aide or an instructor/coach.
Necessary Special Requirements - Must be at least 14 years of age.
Training - Must be willing to learn compulsory routines and attend spotting clinics.
Experience - Must have at least two years experience teaching a youth gymnastics program.
Necessary Special Requirements - Must be at least 16 years of age.
Training - Must be willing to become ACEP Certified and C.A.R.A. Safety Certified. Must have attended at least 3 advanced optional spotting classes.
Experience - Must have at least three years experience teaching a youth gymnastics program and experience in learning and teaching Compulsory and Optional routines.
Necessary Special Requirements - Must be at least 18 years of age.
All positions - Must have current, valid Standard First Aid Certification and Community CPR Certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire. Applicants must, as a condition of employment, pass the following pre-offer and post-offer/hire processes: skills assessment, oral board, reference checks, background checks including local police check and sex-offender check, drug screen, and fingerprint checks through CBI/FBI.
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of the job. The noise level in the environment is moderate. Classes are held in the gymnastics center. Work is generally scheduled Monday through Friday with some work required during evenings and weekends.
