Supervise and delegate responsibility to staff of the lighting department as directed by the Operations Production Manager and Technical Director.
Oversee all departmental task lists, crew scheduling including day maintenance and show calls, and any Human Resource issues that may arise with the guidance of technical management.
Preserve the on-going; long-term “opening night” quality, the lighting designer’s vision, and the artistic integrity of the production according to the needs of artistic, technical and company management.
Coordinate special projects including the research, purchase and installation of specialty lighting related items both for show applications and for electrical needs of the showroom and other stage departments as required
Prioritize and assign maintenance and inspection of lighting systems, UPS, emergency lighting, control consoles, dimmers, moving lights and atmospherics on a regular schedule to ensure thorough, timely scrutiny of all gear within the lighting department
Work closely with Artistic Directors and Stage Management in supporting their needs during rehearsals and performances.
Ensure equipment and supplies are stocked in sufficient quantity to ensure the on-going needs of the production.
Maintain a safe working environment at all times by enforcing and conforming to established safety policies and proceduresincluding the enforcement of fall protection protocols, the use of personal protective equipment, and safe tool handling.
Ensure lighting department documentation is current and formally recorded to preserve the original intention of the designers, and utilize TMA and other provided software tools to track all preventative and reactive maintenance routines, as well as any other information pertinent to the security of the show’s run.
Be responsible for the efficient management of labor and material expenses in the lighting department within parameters set by production management.
Participate in required safety classes and emergency rescue procedure training.
Oversee all Electrical safety policies in the theatre along with the Technical Director and the Operations Production Manager.
Responsible for training departments regarding showroom electrical safety.
Responsible for Department payroll and timekeeping records.
Perform all duties as deemed necessary for the success of the department.
Possess a minimum of 5 years experience operating and managing a large scale theatrical lighting system.
Minimum of 5 years management experience running a department.
Knowledge of electrical theory, electronics, DMX protocol, GFCI protection, follow spots and lighting focus practices.
Experience using digital test equipment for troubleshooting and repairs
Possess skills for the safe implementation of lighting systems as used in a wet environment.
Excellent customer service skills.
Must have interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts.
Professional appearance and demeanor.
Work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
High School diploma or equivalent.
Must be able to effectively communicate in English, in both written and oral forms.
Previous experience working in a similar resort setting.
Knowledge of OSHA.
