Performs professional and managerial duties directing and evaluating the activities of assigned Head Start/Early Head Start Center staff to ensure programs comply with federal performance standards.

Plans, organizes, directs and evaluates activities of Head State/Early Head Start Centers to ensure compliance with program, statutory, and regulatory requirements.
Oversees educational curricula to include classroom management, child outcomes and record keeping.
Trains staff and parents in accordance with Head Start performance standards, developmentally appropriate practices, pedestrian safety, and licensing requirements, including Child Development Associate (CDA) and National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) accreditation standards for preschool age children or infants and toddlers.
Oversees facilities maintenance and transportation activities at assigned centers.
Coordinates activities between Head Start service areas as well as with outside agencies.
Maintains records and prepares and submits required reports.
Supervises the work of professional and other center staff by scheduling, assigning and reviewing work, providing training and counseling and evaluating performance to ensure work activities are properly carried out.
Performs First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) as needed.
Performs other related duties as required.

Ability to coordinate and select appropriate activities for young children and their parents both in the home and in the classroom.

Ability to oversee the work of subordinate staff.
Ability to assume a seated position on the floor, or a bent or kneeled position for extended periods of time.

Note: Minimum Qualifications MUST be attained before the recruitment ending date.
Bachelor's or higher degree in Early Childhood Education or in a related field with 18 credit hours in early childhood courses; and
Two years of experience in Head Start, Early Head Start, pre-school or kindergarten age children's education program; one year of which must have been in a supervisory or team leader capacity.
APPOINTING AUTHORITY REQUIRES
A Certification of Completion of an approved 10 hour Developmentally Appropriate Practices for Pre-Schoolders or Infant/Toddlers Course; and
Proof of successful completion of the following courses: 6 hours Child Growth and Development; 6 hours Behavioral Observation & Screening; 8 hours Health, Safety & Nutrition; 4 hours Identifying and Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect; and 6 hours Child Care Facility rules and Regulations; and
A Certificate of Completion of an approved 10 hour Special Needs Course; and
A background investigation and fingerprint identification prior to hiring; and
A State of Florida Child Care and Education Program Director Credential, within the probationary period.
APPOINTING AUTHORITY MAY REQUIRE
A National Credential as a Child Development Associate for Infant/Toddlers (CDA) within one year of employment; and
Certification in First Aid and CPR within the probationary period; and
Possession of a valid driver license.
