The Information Services division of AWS Truepower is seeking a talented and goal-oriented person to join our team as a High Performance Cluster (HPC) Administrator and Scientific Programmer. AWS Truepower provides a wide range of data products to support its clients and projects, many of which are generated on our state-of-the-art Linux-based HPC cluster. As part of the Information Services team, you will configure, maintain, and operate the cluster, including loading and configuring new software packages, implementing and overseeing a queuing system, troubleshooting problems, and supporting cluster users. In addition, you may be called upon to support implementations of software on external customer-owned or cloud clusters, as well as to write, modify, execute, and maintain scripts and code in support of internal research initiatives and externally sponsored client projects.
Minimum B.S. degree in information technology, computer science, engineering, meteorology, atmospheric science, mathematics, physics, or a related field.
Advanced knowledge of Linux. Experience with LAMP (PHP, MySQL, Apache), shell scripting, batch job submission, and programming in a higher-level language (FORTRAN and/or C, C++). Experience implementing and maintaining Linux/Unix based HPC Clusters (including user and network administration, system configuration files, NFS shares and permissions, computer operations, functions, and related peripherals).Experience
with graphics (GEMPAK, GrADS, IDL) and statistical packages (S+, R, Matlab). Experience
with numerical weather prediction models. Experience with configuration
management/software revision systems (e.g. CVS or Subversion) and scripting in
languages such as Perl, Python, awk, and bash/csh/ksh. Red Hat Certified
Engineer (RHCE) certification and previous experience implementing and
administering a ROCKS cluster are a plus.
Thelocation of this position is in Albany, NY. Minimal travel may be required.
