HR Generalist / Recruiter
The Martha O'Bryan Center is a creative activist ministry serving over 6000 clients in Nashville each year through early learning education, youth development, Work Ready job placement, family resource center community/social services and East End Prep K-5 charter school.

Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, this HR Generalist/Recruiter position is a new opportunity for an HR professional with strong recruiting experience to join Martha O’Bryan during an exciting period of growth for the agency. You will work closely with agency leadership to find the best talent for our organizations in a variety of fields, from communications to program management to development. You will also help us build new HR programs and processes as a key player in the agency’s change management work. A range of transactional as well as strategic, project-based work, with an emphasis on talent acquisition, will expose you to every aspect of a mission-driven agency with a diverse “highway” of programming and an incredible, talented group of staff and clients.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Independently conducts candidate searches:
- Recruit top talent including sourcing, interviewing and reference checking.
- Determine and implement recruiting best practices.
- Partner with managers to determine requirements for the position and qualities of an ideal candidate via competency matrix and interview guides.
- Post positions that will attract top talent/create advertising.
- Ensure that personnel requisitions are completed in a timely manner.
- Work with managers to create job descriptions.
- Develop and maintain relationships with universities and other recruitment
Prepare and maintain job descriptions, job announcements, and performance evaluation systems.
Complete salary survey questionnaires and assist with pay planning.
Conduct new employee orientations and facilitate onboarding process.
Administer and explain benefits to employees, serve as liaison between employees and insurance carriers.
Recommend, develop and schedule training and development opportunities.
Provide advice, assistance and follow-up on company policies, procedures, and documentation.
Coordinate the resolution of specific policy-related and procedural problems and inquiries.
Recommend, develop and maintain human resource data bases and leverage HRIS data for problem solving and planning.
Develop and recommend operating policy and procedural improvements.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines. Knowledge of federal and state employment and benefit laws. Experience independently conducting all aspects of talent acquisition. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to analyze data and provide recommendations. This is normally acquired through a combination of the completion of a Bachelor's Degree and three to five years of human resource experience.
