Job Summary

Provides Human Resources generalist support to a large plant with < 500 employees, administering a variety of HR programs and procedures throughout Snyders Lance Inc.

Essential Job Duties

Administers Kronos timekeeping system; maintains the security database; creates and administers security approval; supports the system as business leader for all locations. Establishes and maintains Kronos users’ procedures.

Processes and approves weekly and biweekly payroll transmitting. Provides support on payroll issues as business leader for all locations.

Maintains HR information system records, keys data, compiles and distributes reports. May develop queries. Processes system changes such as new hire information, pay changes, and terminations.

Responds to a wide variety of inquiries which may involve researching programs, policies, procedures, employee benefits offerings or employee services. Key areas of knowledge are benefits, payroll, and tax issues. Acts as a liaison with all levels of employees regarding HR issues.

Administers service award program for Lance, facilitates service award dinner, and communicates with employees and management on program.

Generates and maintains organizational charts for Lance.

Conducts new employee benefits orientation and prepares new hire packets. Serves as backup for pre-employment and new hire orientation.

Administers Job Posting system for manufacturing and offices for all non-exempt positions.

Participates in preparation and maintenance of HR policies and/or handbook; company bulletin boards and employee newsletters; variety of employee communications; appropriate records, files, documentations, etc.

Prepares a variety of reports such as VETS-100 and prepares data from system for Affirmative Action Plans and EEO-1, etc.

Participates and leads a variety of HR committees and project initiatives. Leads the Wellness Committee for this location.

Maintains awareness and knowledge of HR laws and company policies and procedures. Remains current on federal, state, case law changes, pending and legislative labor law initiatives, and monitors labor law updates for changes that affect HR.

May perform other duties as required.

Scope of Responsibility

Somewhat independent; work frequently done independently by following practices and procedures while occasionally having work checked. Privy to highly confidential organizational information, finances, and personnel issues.

Supervisory Responsibility

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

Language Ability

: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common technical journals. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints.

Reasoning Ability

: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Uses intuition and experience to complement data. Ability to exercise discretion while managing confidential information.

Computer Skills:
Knowledge of Word Processing software, Spreadsheet software, and Internet software.

Education and Experience

High School diploma or GED; or 2 – 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical Demands

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to sit, stand, and walk.

Work Environment

Office environment; noise level is usually quiet. Occasional need to enter manufacturing.

Travel Required

Travel is seldom required for this position.
