We have a fantastic opportunity for a Health, Safety and Environment (HS&E) Regional Improvement Manager to join our team.
The purpose of this role is to provide professional advice and consultancy in HS&E management to businesses, and to help champion standards across the UK and Continental Europe to drive performance improvement.
You will help develop HS&E policies, objectives and targets based on the needs of stakeholders. Particular emphasis is placed on the implementation of policies and the related strategies to drive performance improvement.
You will help develop and support the HS&E Management System with particular emphasis on the risk management process. You will produce supporting guidelines and provide a comprehensive consulting service, including "Due Diligence" activities and selected training.
You will take a leading role in HS&E Management issues across the Region, maintaining full co-operation with the Corporate HS&E team and Occupational Health.
You will participate in HS&E Committees and meetings in the Business Units, where deemed appropriate. This will help promulgate best practice and facilitate sound decision making. You will also assist businesses in development and implementation of targeted improvement plans.
You will undertake health and safety audits either as lead auditor or as part of a larger HS&E team.
You will undertake accident investigations in complex and/or serious cases and provide support to Business Units, as required, in less serious cases.
You will help maintain sound relationships with external organisations such as the Authorities and Industry bodies, participating in appropriate committees, working groups and seminars.
You will provide a mentor and coaching role to HS&E professionals in the Business Units and, where appropriate, be involved in the selection of employees for HS&E posts.
Qualifications and experience
You will have experience in a HS&E role, including significant work on management systems, interpretation of legislation, training delivery and audit. You will be comfortable dealing with and influencing senior executives, with the proven ability to interact across all levels of organisations . Able to work at a strategic level, you will possess strong communication, presentation and management skills.
A commitment to driving continual improvement is essential.
A proven track record of working in an international environment would be an advantage.
Some overseas travel (within Europe) will be required.
