HVAC /Maintenance Technician
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operates, maintains and repairs all electro /mechanical systems and equipment. This would include HVAC and Emergency equipment and controls, fan and blowers including troubleshooting of motors, fan coils, VAV’s heat exchangers, boilers, chillers, cooling towers, air-conditioning and refrigeration units (base diagnostics), pumps etc.
Monitors BAS systems and communicates with the Energy Department when adjustments or repairs are needed.
Performs all PM Tasks as directed by WO Program and condition/run time dictated.
Identifies and documents work, defects in equipment and any potentialproblems observed during maintenance through use of the FAMIS Preventive Maintenance system.
Performs repairs on life safety systems when required.
Assist other trades as needed.
May serve as mentor for HVAC apprentice positions.
Follows all code requirements and safety regulations such as Lock Out/ Tag Out Policy; use of protective gear when required; adherence to the Confined Space Policy, etc.
This position is a first shift- (730 AM to 330 PM)
This is also an on call position (24/7)
Assorted power and hand tools, gauges, multi meters and HVAC systems test equipment.
Experience and Skills:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR CONSIDERATION:SPECIAL SKILLS:
Mechanical and electrical aptitude and capable of working independent of supervision under own initiative. Must have sound knowledge of controls and the skill to troubleshoot related equipment under his / her charge.
Overtime and call backs are expected periodically
High School Diploma or Trade School Certificate
EPA Certified Class 1 Refrigeration License (minimum)
Expertise with Ammonia Systems a plus
Certification on related Life Safety Systems
Three (3) years prior experience in a HVAC.
