Highway Maintenance Workers perform roadway, roadside and structural maintenance activities to restore the roadway surface and maintain the integrity of State highways.
Multiple positions within District II will be filled with this recruitment. Under general supervision of a Highway Maintenance Supervisor I, incumbent functions as the assistant supervisor or leadperson of a roadway or specialty crew on a regular, reoccurring basis and assumes all supervisory responsibilities in the absence of the supervisor. NOTE: THIS RECRUITMENT WILL BE USED TO FILL FUTURE VACANCIES AS THEY OCCUR FOR THE NEXT THREE MONTHS. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)

Graduation from high school or the equivalent and one year of experience as a Highway Maintenance Worker III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special Requirements

Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position may be required to submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances. In addition, federal law requires random testing for controlled substances during employment.

A valid commercial driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.

Additional Position Experience

It has been determined that education and experience equivalent to one year as a Highway Maintenance Worker III in Nevada State service must include two years of experience following certification in the operation of complex or specialized highway maintenance or construction equipment as designated by NDOT.

Certification must be in the form of a letter from a current/previous employer and must include dates, hours and type of equipment used.

Certification is required to be attached to your application at the time of submittal. Failure to attach the certification of equipment experience and hours will result in denial of your application for this recruitment.
