The Department of Human Services (DHS), Seniors and People with Disabilities (SPD), State Operated Community Program (SOCP) is seeking individuals for an exciting career opportunity in SOCP Group Homes. This announcement will be used to fill position(s) as Limited Duration (LD) appointments. The LD appointment(s) will be condsidered a workload and the person hired into these positions may work up to seventeen (17) months. Preferrence will be given to applicants with prior SOCP experience . There are twenty-three (23) community-based behavioral and medical homes located in the Willamette Valley area. Nine (9) of the group homes are designated as Habilitative Training Technician 2 and are located in the Portland surrounding area, Salem surrounding area, Eugene surrounding area, Lebanon and Newberg, Oregon. These positions are represented by a union.
This recruitment will be used to establish a list of qualified applicants.

SOCP provides 24-hour residential and vocational services and support for the highest risk population of Oregon citizens with Developmental Disabilities. SOCP is dedicated to providing developmentally disabled children and adults the support necessary to maintain the quality of life, achieve the highest possible level of independence and promote social opportunities, which benefit the individuals and the community. An Individual Support Plan (ISP), which emphasizes what is most important to the individual, is developed annually, updated as needed, and monitored by an assigned county Services Coordinator.
Duties & Responsibilities:
The primary purpose of the Direct Support Staff is to provide training and/or assistance to individuals in, hygiene, nutrition, housekeeping, behavioral management, safety, vocational, health care and other daily activities both within the home and the community; also to maintain the home/property in a safe and sanitary manner.
The Direct Support Staff ensures the home is maintained in a safe, sanitary manner per the Comprehensive 24-hours Residential Services for Children and Adults with Developmental Disabilities OAR Chapter 411, Division 325.
DUTIES (include but are not limited to):
Administer medications, maintain medication records including MAR form, TAR form, med countsheets and all the aspects of medication administration systems;
Perform assing Registered Nurse delegated medica tasks;
Provide support for individuals by maintaining the observation skills necessary to identify behavioral/health changes or needs and imeediately report to Sit Manager, support staff, RN;
Participate in meetings and attend madatory training as required/assigned;
Follow estalished policies, procedures and guidelines to support SOCP mission and DHS Core Values - Integrity, Stewardship, Responsiblity, Respect, Professionalism, Innovation and Service Equity.
Work site is in a home environment, which is staffed 24 hours/day, seven days/week.
This job requires that the applicant must be able to:
Pass and maintain the following skills and certifications:
Oregon Intervention System (OIS) certification, CPR/First Aid certification, and Medication Administration Skills.
Work hours and shifts in these positions that will meet the needs of the home and will be expected to work any shift, including week-ends and holidays. The hiring supervisor will determine work schedule specifics;
Work occasional overtime required to ensure adequate staffing requirements;
Have and maintain an acceptable valid driver's license, as frequent use of a motor vehicle to transport children or adults throughout the state is required;
Have the ability to lift up to 75 pounds on a regular basis, including physical restraints (able to engage and maintain OIS approved restraints for up to one (1) hour.
Work with combative, unpredictable, argumentative, aggressive and developmentally disabled children or adults who may be dangerous to themselves and others on a daily basis;
Withstand exposure to body fluids, detergents and other cleaning agents on a daily basis;
Dress in professional work attire (examples: court, family visits, school, etc) including following house specific dress codes.
Qualifications & Desired Attributes:
Minimum Qualifications :
Six months experience providing direct patient/client care and/or training in a related field of human services (i.e., providing assistance to individuals and/or groups with issues such as substance abuse, aging, mental and physical disabilities or juvenile delinquency); OR
An Associate’s degree in a related human service field .
This position does not require a CNA license and hours worked in this position will not count towards your paid employment for the purpose of renewing your CNA license.
An abuse history, driver's license and criminal history check (this includes fingerprints if needed) will be done on all applicants offered a position. If you are a resident of another state, you will need to provide your driver's license record from the state you have been or are currently licensed in within the last 2 years. Any adverse background data may be grounds for immediate disqualification. You must possess and maintain a current, valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record.
Your driving record must meet the qualifications of the DHS, SOCP Driving Policy and will be considered unacceptable for offenses, including, but not limited to any misdemeanor or felony traffic offense in the last 24 months.
If you are offered one of these positions, the program will offer training and you must become certifed in the following:
American Heart Association First Aid/CPR certification , requiring you to complete compressions in a kneeling position; and
Certification for the Oregon Intervention System (OIS) of restraints, requiring you to get up and down from the floor while maintaining an approved restraint on clients.
The SOCP system of medical training , requiring you to demonstrate competency in completing doctor's orders, appropriate passing of medications to clients, appropriate documentation, and appropriate procedures for emergencies.
