The Head Chef/ Cook Supervisor oversees food preparation in an institutional setting, serving St. Vincent’s Villa, Villa Maria Schools, and other Catholic Charities sites as required. Supervises cooks in the preparation of on-site meals and packed meals for off-site delivery. Plans and prepares food for special catered events.

The position requires a High school graduate or GED with additional culinary training in commercial or institutional c ooking and 5 years experience in food prep in both institutional and commercial facilities. Supervisory experience is preferred. Candidates must possess Serve Safe certificate. Requires some weekends and holidays

Candidates must be able to lift up to 25 lbs and walk/stand up to 90% of the time. Must have sufficient visual and hearing acuity to perform job duties. The job will result in exposure to cleaning products/chemicals.

The position requires expert cooking skills including knowledge of spices and ingredients and their compatibility with various foods, improvisational cooking and baking, developing variety in menus, developing large quantity recipes, nutrition, meal planning, and meal presentation. Requires math skills consistent with calculating and adjusting recipe measurements. Requires effective time management skills to coordinate cooking and food packing activities of the unit. Requires effective interpersonal skills and an understanding of requirements for special or restricted diets. Requires familiarity with HACCP procedures and local Health Department, state, and federal regulations related to food handling, storage, and preparation.
