ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : Other duties may be assigned by Program Director
Work cooperatively and productively with staff, Program Director, students, and the public
Present positive image as a representative of school district
Keep all equipment clean and maintain a sanitary environment
Observe all Board of Education policies and regulations and comply with all school district work rules
Complete required meal reports
Place food and supply orders
Maintain daily production records
Maintain an inventory of supplies and food products
Perform all general kitchen duties
Wash pots and pans; assist with daily kitchen clean up
Supervise student helpers
Ability to prepare food, using past production records and student counts to determine quantities needed
Ability to supervise staff and delegate all job responsibilities
Must be knowledgeable of all food codes and be able to address food safety issues with staff
Regular and predictable attendance
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :
High School diploma, GED, or equivalent
Ability to operate all equipment used in kitchen
Serv-Safe Certified (mandatory-training provided if needed)
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES :
Must be eligible to work in the United States
Must be in good health and physical condition and shall comply with local and state regulations with respect to medical requirements
Working knowledge of the basic philosophy and functions of the National School Lunch Program
Must have working knowledge of record/bookkeeping procedures as they pertain to the State and Federal guidelines
Ability to work with computer systems
Possess the ability to work cooperatively with other employees, building staff and public
Knowledge of federal guidelines as they apply to reimbursable meals
PHYSICAL DEMANDS : The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to remain in a stationary position. The leader is constantly moving about the kitchen, cafeteria area, and storage areas to delegate tasks, check food, prepare food, meet the necessary demands of the breakfast/lunch/snack programs and to inventory supplies so orders can be placed and put away when delivered. The employee will communicate with others and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. The employee may occasionally lift up to 40 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT : The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. The employee is frequently required to interact with students, staff, and occasionally with the public.
Job performance is evaluated in accordance with district guidelines and the applicable collective bargaining language by the district supervisor.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT :
Work year is determined by the number of days students are in attendance during the regular school calendar. Workday is 8 hours per day, 7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.. The hourly rate is based on the Special Projects pay scale.
