Position: Head Designer
Reporting: VP of Design
Salary: $120,000 – 150,000 annually

Throughout the entire design process from concept to production handover, leads the team of designers and interfaces with PD and sample makers to successfully complete the tasks below within the established dates of the seasonal design calendar.
Create mood boards with images and finalized concepts
Completes storyboards with detailed sketches based on the seasonal merchandised plan
Contributes technical drawings towards the final style worksheet log
Creates and supervises the team to establish clear and thorough style specs and tech packs for overseas suppliers,ie: CADswith supporting documentation or metal models from wax prototypes.
Is responsible for the successful completion by his/her team of up to 80 styles of jewelry per delivery
Is responsible for supervising the team’s time management so that the PD calendar milestones are met
Assists at product presentation to Sales
Interfaces with PD to facilitate the transfer of fully spec’d design worksheets to the next stage of product development
Supervises designers to manage their time during each phase of the design process and ensures their understanding and adherence to the concepts they are designing into.Creates a weekly agenda for theirteam and monitors the progress of daily and weekly deliverables.
Promotes teamwork, understands and implements succession planning, manages the tiers of experience within the design team and keeps the overall morale high while maintaining productivity.Supervises the completion of the yearly performance reviews of the team, working with the designers to establish management or skill objectives for the coming year. Promotes the mentoring of junior designers by senior designers. Also supervises outside freelance design contractors if required during the CAD process.
To complete storyboards, works with the VP of Design to lay out the collection according to the SKU count and pricing parameters as established in the SeasonalMerchplanand as seen through theBrand Filter
Modifies designs as needed upon Creative Director / VP of Design’s approval verifies that all changes are logged as successfully updated and designs to the price point while meeting departmental margin goals
Have the team thoroughly inspect each item prior to publishing new collections.Attends a monthly QC meeting.
7.Helps designers trouble shoot and resolve issues in a timely manner as needed.
Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in a related field with a strong portfolio.
Minimum 5 years of high-end costume jewelry designing experience.
An excellent sense of color co-ordination and a merchandising sensibility
Experience in the mass market as well as boutique level
Extensive overseas production experience.
Excellent presentation skills that will convey creative ideas precisely
A history of multiple years of service within the same brand.
A minimum of 5 years of experience supervising 3-5 direct reports.
An interest in Fashion and Design history.
An understanding of CAD (rhino) andproficiency in Adobe CS.
A working knowledge of Excel and Outlook
Solid hand-sketching and rendering skills.
An understanding and appreciation of construction methods and detailing from the fine jewelry industry and their application to costume jewelry production.
Verystrong leadership, organizationaland effective communication skills.
