* This is primarily a coaching position with a secondary assignment teaching in another discipline. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Required :
  • Two (2) years of professional experience in coaching football AND A Master†s degree from an acceptable accredited institution in Kinesiology OR
  • The equivalent
  • Candidate must have sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
Preferred :
  • Coaching experience at college level
  • Current technology skills related to teaching in the discipline and a willingness to pursue future technological developments.
General Description : This is a full-time, tenure track instructional assignment in the Athletics department at Merced College under the general direction of the Athletic Director and Dean of Career Technical Education. The coach/professor will coach football and teach related courses in football skills and conditioning, as well as classes in Kinesiology and/or related courses in a discipline of candidate†s competency. The teaching load in the other discipline may be approximately four units during the football season (Fall Semester) and nine units during the off-season (Spring Semester). The standard teaching load is 15 units per semester, which may include evening hours. Essential Functions :
  • Provide instruction in accordance with established course outlines and expectations
  • Inform students about course requirements, evaluation procedures and attendance policy
  • Maintain required student attendance and scholastic records
  • Prepare and grade class assignments and examinations
  • Post and maintain regular office hours in accordance with prevailing policy
  • Participate in the development and review of curriculum
  • Participate in the development of teaching-learning methods and materials
  • Participate in departmental, area and campus professional activities/committees
  • Participate in the college's learning outcomes assessment program, including course, program, and institutional assessments
  • Perform tasks needed for student records, e.g., submit grades on time to admissions and records
