POSITION: Head Volleyball Coach / College Completion SpecialistCLASSIFICATION: UnclassifiedDEPARTMENT: Athletics / Student ServicesREPORT TO: Athletic Director / Executive Dean of StudentsGENERAL JOB SUMMARY: This is a full time position located on the Estherville and Emmetsburg Campuses. Responsible for the day to day management and organization of the women†s volleyball program including games and practices, evaluation and recruitment of student athletes, academic monitoring of team, promotion of current players to four year institutions, and management of budgets within program. Additional responsibilities include coordinating college completion initiatives; collecting, organizing, and presenting data relating to college completion; and advising and providing support to students. Organizational skills, multi-tasking, and an unwavering commitment to customer and student service are critical attributes of this position.% OF TIMEConstant (67-100%)ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES1.Preparation of student athletes for intercollegiate competition.2.Daily management of volleyball program.3.Recruitment of student athletes.4.Academic monitoring of student athletes.5.Assist with the placement of student athletes at four year colleges.6.Supervision of graduate assistant.7.Coordinate, schedule, and track college completion initiatives and projects.8.Collect and organize data relating to college completion and student retention, persistence, and success.9.Assist with the facilitation of, and co-lead, the College Completion Committee.10.Provide advising and support to at-risk students, and refer students to appropriate college personnel or external agencies for additional support.Frequent(34-66%)1.Become familiar with and compliant with NJCAA rules and regulations.2.Monitor and maintain budgets within the volleyball program.3.Creation of annual volleyball game schedule.4.Present data and reports about college completion initiatives to internal and external stakeholders.5.Communicate and collaborate with college faculty and staff about college completion initiatives and projects.6.Collaborate with the Director of Distance Learning and Global Education and the Director†s staff to ensure the inclusion of online learners in college completion initiatives and projects.7.Collaborate with the college webmaster to ensure the timely and accurate inclusion of college completion data on the college website.8.Use technology to promote college completion initiatives and projects.Occasional(10-33%)1.Attend and participate in yearly athletic department fundraising activities.2.Attendance at monthly coaching staff meetings.3.Conduct surveys as needed to assess internal and external stakeholder needs as they relate to college completion.4.Travel to Spirit Lake, Spencer, and Algona campuses as needed.5.Provide updates about college completion initiatives and projects to other college committees.6.Collaborate with college completion committees of other Iowa community colleges in conjunction with the statewide college completion initiative.7.Provide professional development sessions to faculty and staff in regards to college completion and student retention, persistence, and success.8.Collaborate with Student leaders to create and maintain a student culture that embraces college completion and student success.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: 1.Represent the College in a positive manner to employees, students, visitors, parents and the general public.2.Recruit a full team roster of student athletes.3.Assume responsibility, deal effectively with problems, and exercise independent judgment when making decisions.4.Effectively monitoring and maintaining budgets.5.Read, understand, and express oneself clearly and effectively in oral and written communications.6.Be creative, energetic and self-motivated individual with demonstrated leadership and organizational skills.7.Ability to efficiently perform tasks in an environment of frequent interruptions.8.Ability to effectively relate to a diverse group of students.9.Ability to interpret and comply with all college and NJCAA regulations and policies.10.Develop and maintain working relations with all areas of the college.11.Make appropriate recommendations to supervisor.12.Be a self-starter, with the ability to efficiently manage and perform multiple takes in an environment with frequent interruptions.13.Possess a sincere commitment to customer service and quality.SPECIAL DEMANDS: Sedentary to light work. Position involves sitting most of the time; exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally (10-33%). Stooping, kneeling, crouching, pushing, pulling, carrying and occasionally (10-33%). Walking, lifting, grasping and repetitive motion frequently (34-66%). Talking, hearing, and viewing various types of close visual work constantly (67-100%). May be required to travel utilizing personal vehicle. Must have valid driver†s license, good driving record and provide proof of insurance.
