Position Summary:

Reporting to the Head of Business Operations, the Head of Business Planning is responsible for leading and managing the Biologics Project and Risk Portfolio and supporting business processes. The role is also responsible for the network business plan and for facilitating and managing quarterly project and risk portfolio reviews with key stakeholders including the Biologics leadership team. Collaboration and communication with key stakeholders, site portfolio managers and project team leaders is central to this role. The position is also responsible for communicating the strategic project and risk portfolios to the PT strategy group and for preparing presentations for the IPC (IT Portfolio Council) to facilitate the decision making process for IT related projects.

The Head of Business Planning will lead a team of three individual contributors and will be responsible for organizational design and implementation, staffing, talent management, and performance management. Also responsible for financial budgeting and financial performance, and execution to meet strategic and operational goal.

Responsibilities:
  • Establishes the network business plan, the Biologics project, and the risk portfolio
  • Conducts quarterly reviews with key stakeholders
  • Establishes the top Biologics projects and risks and communicates to the PT strategy group
  • Supports portfolio analysis and suggests risk mitigation
  • Chairs the Biologics Portfolio Council
  • Collaborates with site portfolio councils, project teams and stakeholders across the network
  • Facilitates the prioritization and planning of key projects
  • Manages and enhances the underlying business processes and tools
  • Communicates decisions and actions related to the project and risk portfolios to stakeholders, site portfolio councils and PT strategy group
  • Prepares presentations for the IPC and is a member of the IPC
  • Supports the facilitation of strategic planning sessions
  • Responsible for financial budgeting and financial performance and execution to meet strategic and operational goals

Who You Are

Qualifications:
  • 12-15 years’ related professional experience ideally gained within the biotech or pharmaceutical industry. Multidisciplinary experience is strongly preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree with Master Degree strongly preferred (life sciences, engineering or business disciplines preferred)
  • 5 or more years’ previous people management experience; preferably leading Portfolio, Risk Management or Business Plan programs and managing cross function operations and staff.
  • Direct experience with business process management
  • Direct experience leading project management efforts, portfolio management processes, strategic and business planning processes is preferred
  • Has successfully led cross-functional teams
  • Has a proven track record of delivering measurable business improvements
