This position is located in Serra Mesa.
8 hour shift: 7:00 am – 3:30 pm, including weekends.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Nursing Assistant training or current enrollment in nursing program required
- Current BLS certification required
- Minimum of 2 years experience as Unit Clerk/Secretary and 3 years experience as a Nursing Assistant in acute care or acute rehab setting preferred
- Excellent communication, computer and customer service/interpersonal skills required
- Ability to multi-task; must be well organized, detailed oriented, accurate and thorough in all written and computer work with ability to concentrate in a fast paced environment with interruptions
Functions in roles of both Nursing Assistant and Unit Clerk. Must have knowledge and demonstrated skills in giving direct patient care to meet the comprehensive physical care needs of dependent patients. Makes hourly rounds on patients to ensure safety and comfort needs are met. Collaborates with the Interdisciplinary Team in the delivery of quality patient care under the direction of a licensed nurse. Completes assignments and delegated tasks within scope of practice, policy and procedure requirements and designated time frames. Demonstrates ability to prioritize workload and communicates patient care activities, outcomes and changes to supervisory nurse and other members of the healthcare team. Functions as a team player and promotes teamwork among co-workers. Must be highly focused on patient satisfaction and responsive to customer needs through quick response to call lights and demonstrated sensitivity toward patient/family requests. Must have knowledge and skills in managing patient data through the Cerner Electronic Medical Record System for order entry and various forms of electronic documentation to meet the operational needs of unit. Runs the nursing station desk; answers telephones and patient requests; responds to customer needs through documentation, communication, coordination with all interdisciplinary team members; follows through with physician and nursing requests; expedites patient flow through communication of pt. data pertinent to the admission, transfer and discharge processes; helps maintain a safe working environment for patients, families and team members. Must comply with all regulatory requirements and behavior standards.
This is an acute In-patient Rehabilitation Nursing Unit specializing in the comprehensive care of acute traumatic Spinal Cord and Brain Injured patients and Stroke patients. Unit has other neurological impaired patients as well as cardiac left ventricular assistive device (LVAD) patients. Census averages about 23-25 per day.
