This position identifies offenders that are eligible for Medicaid, Social Security and other types of eligible benefits for health care services within the Virginia Department of Corrections. Directs and coordinates statewide offender health care coverage, and procedures for reimbursement.
Responsible for ensuring all Medicaid, Social Security and other types of eligible funding are identified and processed for health care funding for all incarcerated patients. Assists in completion of forms and applications for patient eligibility. Serves as a resource statewide by providing training and guidance on health care reimbursements. Applies knowledge of specific insurance programs and technical aspects to make decisions. Analyzes program effectiveness and measures progress of program by conducting audits and identifying opportunities for improvement.
Extensive working knowledge of Virginia Medicaid program and social security benefit program. Demonstrated skill in analysis and problem solving as it relates to health care reimbursement eligibility. Experience working in a health care environment working with health care billing and medical coding.
Prefer graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree in business, accounting or health care administration, a related field, or any combination of education and experience that would provide the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job.
