Health Unit Coordinator - Orlando
Florida Hospital Orlando seeks to hire a Health Unit Coordinator who will embrace our mission to extend the healing ministry of Christ.
Located on a lush tropical campus, our flagship hospital, 1,107-bed Florida Hospital Orlando, serves as the major tertiary facility for much of the Southeast, the Caribbean and South America. Florida Hospital Orlando houses one of the largest Emergency Departments and largest cardiac catheterization labs in the country. We are already one of the busiest hospitals in the nation, providing service excellence to more than 32,000 inpatients and 125,000 outpatients each year.
3 East Multisystem is a PCU unit with 53 Semi-Private Rooms. All patients are on a 24 hours remote telemetry. The diagnosis may include but are not limited to the following: anemia, chest pain, congestive heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, cerebral vascular accident, drug overdose, pneumonia, syncope, vascular insufficiencies, and various post-ops.
Full Time Days
As a Health Unit Coordinator, you will make providing service your priority while caring for the whole person in a faith-based atmosphere.
The Health Unit Coordinator under the direct supervision of the Clinical Nurse Manager or Charge Nurse, performs general non-clinical duties and specific services necessary to expedite the efficient functioning of the nursing unit consistent with the philosophy, goals, policies and procedures in the nursing department and hospital administration. Adheres to the Florida Hospital Corporate Compliance Plan and to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state and federal agencies and accrediting bodies. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
Knowledge Skills, Education & Experience Required:
Has sufficient knowledge of English and spelling to perform various non-clinical duties.
Has neat and legible handwriting.
Is knowledgeable of medical terms.
Completion of Health Unit Coordinator Course or recent hospital experience as a Health Unit Coordinator.
Successful completion of Florida Hospital Health Unit Coordinator test.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (preferred)
High school graduate or G.E.D. equivalent (preferred)
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Required:
NAHUC Certification (preferred)

Identifies, proioritizes and transcribes all types of physician orders by completeing the patient kardex, proper care map, making out necessary requisitions.
Notifies and calls other departments or physicians when necessary and places appropriate information on the chart, chart forms, computer and electronic record.
Access the medication room to place meds in a secure area upon medication arrival to the floor.
Performs indirect patient care duties related to admission, transfer and discharge.
Posts pertinent patient data timely.
Responds appropriately in emergency situations
Interactions with patients are appropriate to age, acuity and culture.
Participates in practice changes as a result of performance improvement activities. Demonstrates accurate documentation and monitoring of activities as needed. Supports quality standards and initiatives set by the department.
Exhibits desire to learn and upgrade skills. Performs other duties as assigned or directed to ensure the smooth operation of the department or unit.
