MCTC is a two-year college located in downtown Minneapolis, serving the diverse, multicultural communities of Minneapolis and St. Paul. We provide a comprehensive offering of developmental, liberal arts, pre-professional, professional, and technical programs.

FOR INTERNAL CANDIDATES :
In accordance with Article 12 of the Agreement with AFSCME, Council 5, the following position(s) is vacant and will be filled as soon as possible. Only eligible employees as defined by the provisions of Article 12, Section 6, may submit a bid for the vacancy. Article 12, Section 6, states in part “any employee who has successfully filled a vacancy --- via a bid, shall not be entitled to bid on another vacancy for a period of six (6) months following the date upon which the employee exercised the bid.” However, a permanent, non-probationary classified employee who is part-time, unlimited, part-time seasonal or full-time seasonal may bid on a full-time unlimited vacancy at any time. Unclassified and probationary employees are not eligible to bid.

Hours of Work: Hours of work may vary depending on the needs of the department and the successful
candidate.

Seasonal, Part-Time (.50 FTE) (Seasonal off mid August thru mid September).

Examples of Duties:

Provide tutoring/mentoring and facilitate academic development and personal growth of the students in after school tutoring sessions and some Saturday sessions as assigned by program director and advisor.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

· Ability to read and write English sufficient to understand and follow directions and maintain records and documentation.

·Human relations skills sufficient to establish rapport with and provide direction to program participants.

·Ability to provide remedial tutoring at an elementary or secondary level in academic areas, e.g. mathematics, writing, computer skills.

·Ability to follow program policies for working with minor students

Preferred Qualifications:

·Tutoring experience

·Working with first generation students

·Computer skills desired
