This reporter will write news and enterprise stories on key topics affecting public and private colleges in Georgia, including UGA and Georgia Tech. This reporter will focus heavily on trends and issues, including quality of instruction, college affordability and the university's role in economic development. The succcessful applicant will produce a mix of news, ahead-of the curve enterprise and hard-hitting watchdog stories with an eye towards how students, parents and taxpayers are affected. The successful applicant will also have a basic understanding of the legislative process in order to follow higher education issues while the Georgia Legislature is in session.

This reporter will be a key contributor to the Sunday and daily front pages. This reporter must also embrace our digital mission and provide unique local content for all of our platforms: free site, premium site, and mobile. The reporter will be a newsroom leader in generating topic-based discussions on social media, capturing what our readers are talking about on those outlets and driving the conversation.

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 10 years of reporting experience.
Salary range: $50,000-$74,000, depending on experience
