Teaching responsibilities include, but may not be limited to: U.S. history survey courses. The successful applicant will be expected to conduct themselves in a professional manner, assist in departmental assessment, and maintain a minimum of five hours office hours per week.
Minimum requirements: Master’s degree in History with a minimum of one year college teaching experience and completion of a successful interview. Candidates must provide evidence of successful teaching, such as copies of student evaluations. Additional qualifications: Ability to effectively communicate subject material; ability to adapt to changing technologies that support teaching and learning; excellent communication skills; and demonstration, through past accomplishments and behaviors, of the ability to support Mansfield University’s principles and values of Character, Scholarship, Culture, Service (http://www1.mansfield.edu/mansfield-creed) and the University’s strong student-centered vision and mission. Preferred: PhD in History and at least one year of teaching experience. Other conditions of employment are verification of all earned degrees through the receipt of original transcripts and an acceptable background check report.
Effective and enthusiastic teaching for a large diverse audience; timely and fair grading of assignments, quizzes, and exams; ability to communicate and write effectively; effective use of computer technology; willingness to work cooperatively within the department; and effective communication (verbal and written) and use of electronic teaching technology. Work cooperatively with staff, faculty and administration. May be required to lift, stand, walk, reach with arms, etc.
Temporary part-time positions for the 2013/14 academic year. Instructor or Assistant Professor rank. The work load may be increased or decreased depending on enrollment. Salary and rank are dependent on qualifications and experience.
